FAQ'S

What do I do if my car breaks down on the highway?

If your car breaks down on the highway, the most important thing is to stay calm and focus on safety, both for yourself and other travelers. As soon as you notice something is wrong, try to get your vehicle off the road. Pull over to the right shoulder if possible, or even the left if that’s the only safe option. Use your turn signal and try to slow down gradually. Once stopped, turn on your hazard lights to alert other drivers of your situation.

If it’s safe to do so, stay inside your car with your seatbelt on, especially if it's rush hour or you're in a dangerous spot. If you must exit the vehicle, do so carefully and move to a safe location to the side of the road, far away from traffic.

Next, reach out for help. Give us a call at (203) 875-0251 and we will be there to help you as fast as we can. We are available day or night and always ready to take your call. Make sure to clearly share your location, mile markers, exit numbers, or nearby landmarks to help our tow truck driver find you faster.

While you wait, try to avoid working on your car or standing near traffic. Keep your phone on-hand for updates, and stay aware of traffic and your surroundings. A breakdown can be stressful, but staying safe and getting professional help from Norwalk Tow is the best way to get you off the road and out of a dangerous spot.
